About the Role

The Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Nurse in Dermatology to lead the dermatological nursing services within the Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to make a significant contribution to the development of excellent care provision in Dermatology across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with medical consultant colleagues and academic institutions to lead on education, research, and practice to continually develop an equitable, standardised, high-quality medical dermatology service.
  • To develop and lead dermatology research projects and academic activities in close collaboration with colleagues at relevant academic institutions.
  • To contribute to and where appropriate, lead new initiatives that are developments and innovations between the service, and relevant external agencies, locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Undertake consultative work that has importance locally, nationally, and internationally for the advancement of dermatology practice.
  • Practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability that is within national guidelines, Trust policies and NMC Codes of Conduct.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant Masters degree
  • Qualified NMP V300 Qualification
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Extensive experience working at Advanced level in Dermatology

Desirable

  • Working towards or will consider PHD level study

Experience

  • Evidence of extensive expert professional knowledge in Dermatology supplemented by specialist managerial / leadership training and CPD
  • Evidence of research activity undertaken, publications, conference presentations
  • Evidence of leadership development
  • Evidence of persuasive and strong influencing skills and the ability to manage conflict
  • Evidence of involvement in policy and practice change

  • Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
  • Able to demonstrate assertiveness and, tact, and diplomacy appropriately

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates highly developed specialist expertise and knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD
  • Proven record of leading and effectively managing change across organisations
  • Detailed knowledge of the NHS agenda, with explicit understanding of current issues in Nursing
  • Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives.
