About the Role

You will be part of our Technical Services SHEQ Team, reporting to the SHEQ Lead, providing health and safety advice, guidance, and assistance to ensure our projects meet environmental criteria and leave a positive legacy on the communities we work in.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support business units in the waste collection and sortation sector with expert SHEQ advice and guidance.
  • Assist the SHEQ department in providing compliance, advice, and guidance on applicable legislation and industry best practice.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements, and procedures to ensure SHEQ performance.
  • Monitor and deliver internal audits, on-site inspections, and report on SHEQ performance for business operations, office, and field-based activities.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, analyze data, and present findings to the management team.
  • Review vendors, conduct audits, and inspections to ensure SHEQ compliance.
  • Prepare reports on performance against objectives, targets, and SHEQ performance, and support associated communications.
Person Specification
  • Proven experience in a health and safety position in the waste sector.
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate, ideally Tech IOSH status, and experience with ISO standards.
  • Membership of the CIWM would be advantageous.
  • Good technical knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Experience of delivering training.
  • ISO internal auditor qualification an advantage but not essential.
  • Travel for up to 50% of workload, including UK and international locations.
