We are seeking a skilled Medical Specialist to join our Anaesthetic Department at Bedford Hospital, part of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Position
  • This is a full-time appointment with terms and conditions in line with the Consultant Contract (2003).
  • You will work closely with 24 consultants providing comprehensive anaesthetic services.

The department delivers a wide range of services including colorectal, urology, general surgery, breast surgery, trauma & orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, ENT, oro-maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery. As a medical specialist, you will have opportunities to develop your skills, build relationships with other departments, and engage in ongoing professional development.

You may be required to travel between hospital sites due to the diverse population we serve.

Requirements
  • Demonstrable expertise in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Able to mentor and educate junior doctors, nurses, and medical students.
  • A flexible team player with strong management skills.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, based on experience. You will also receive a range of benefits including annual leave, pension scheme, and opportunities for professional development.

Location and Working Schedule

The ideal candidate should reside within 10 miles of the hospital or commute within 30 minutes. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with occasional on-call duties.
