Job Description:

Leonardo is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business in Basildon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the smooth transition of new products from design into manufacture, leading front-end manufacturing engineering activities, and ensuring timely, efficient, cost-effective, and accurate product introduction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, researching and designing methods and equipment, and understanding feedback from operators.
  • Participate in Manufacturing Maturity Reviews, maintain governance through Lifecycle Management, and create Manufacturing Plans.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information to aid production scheduling, labour and material costs, and future requirements estimation.
  • Resolve routine and complex product and/or production issues, and improve manufacturing efficiency through capacity analysis, simulation planning, and workflow optimization.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process-specific risk assessments, COSHH data, and technical reports.
  • Support Material and Failure Review Boards, and maintain manufacturing data, including routings, production plans, and electronic work instructions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, and may supervise apprentices or students.
Requirements:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Ability to articulate technical understanding, and good problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated achievement and delivery of work packages, and experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
