Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to join our team at Matchtech. This is a contract opportunity that offers a unique chance to work on crucial planning policy projects.

About the Role:

  • This role involves preparing and implementing statutory and non-statutory Local Plan documents, as well as monitoring their application.
  • The successful candidate will develop and sustain the planning policy evidence base, oversee the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP), and secure funding via the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
  • You will provide expert planning policy input on complex applications and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective consultation and examination processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and maintain the Council's planning policy evidence base.
  2. Prepare and manage Local Plan documents, including statutory and non-statutory elements.
  3. Ensure effective consultation and examination processes for planning documents.
  4. Monitor the implementation of planning policies and plans.
  5. Develop and oversee the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP).
  6. Secure funding for infrastructure projects through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
  7. Provide expert planning policy input on complex planning applications.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in planning policy within a similar role.
  • A strong understanding of statutory and non-statutory Local Plan preparation.
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate, and maintain planning policies and their implementation.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP).
  • Experience in securing and managing funds via the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
  • Expertise in handling complex planning applications.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
