We are seeking a highly skilled Research Microbiologist to join our team in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term, full-time position for 24 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and carrying out laboratory-based microbiology tasks as part of several large-scale projects.

  1. Managing sample receipt, cataloguing, and collection across different projects.
  2. Evaluating and streamlining sample preparation and laboratory protocols.
About You

To succeed in this post, you will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and strong microbiology laboratory skills (molecular, culture-based). You will also need to demonstrate an enquiring and flexible attitude, a keen interest in working collaboratively with researchers from different disciplines, and drive to achieve project objectives.

You will be organized, enthusiastic, and highly motivated, capable of managing your area of work and troubleshooting issues. You will also be confident in summarising your experimental findings for discussion with the project leads, participating in research dissemination activities, and writing up your results for publication.

Salary and Benefits

This role comes with a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience, and a range of benefits including flexible working, paid holidays, and access to a comprehensive wellbeing programme.
