We are seeking a skilled Occupational Safety and Risk Management Leader to join our team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. As part of our dedicated Health & Safety Service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective identification and mitigation of health and safety risks across the council.

About the Role

In this challenging and rewarding position, you will lead a team of Health & Safety professionals in responding to emerging health and safety risks, as well as providing support services to Tees Active, the company responsible for operating leisure centres, schools, and academies within the borough.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of health and safety principles and practices, with excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be expected to collaborate with various stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Health & Safety professionals in risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and mitigate health and safety risks.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on health and safety incidents and performance metrics.

We offer an attractive salary of up to £47,420 per annum, along with 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 with 5 years service), plus bank holidays. Additional benefits include:
