Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead our data engineering projects and work closely with solution architects to ensure the integrity and consistency of end-to-end technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose and meet business requirements, adhere to quality standards, and deliver value within cost constraints.
  • Ensure all developments follow the agreed change process.
  • Work with security architecture to ensure all solutions are fully approved.
  • Provide input into project and resource plans and support business case production.
  • Work within an agile methodology framework.
  • Oversee solution development, including implementation engagement as needed.
  • Apply knowledge of technology options and survey external market landscape for solution insights, direction, and vendors, as required.
  • Identify issues and risks and lead their resolution as required.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in existing services.

Requirements:

  • Degree in an appropriate subject, preferable or equivalent qualifications, or demonstrable evidence of relevant business/work experience at this level.
  • API and RESTful micro-services.
  • JVM-based languages, such as Java, and frameworks like Spring Boot.
  • Cloud Platforms, with an emphasis on Azure. Knowledge of other platforms, advantageous (AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of Linux and AWS CLI scripting and automation.
  • Good knowledge of CI/CD automation.
  • NoSQL Database Technology, such as MongoDB.
  • CDC and streaming technologies, such as Qlik Replicate and Kafka.
  • Basic data architecture principles, solutioning, and ETL experience, and containerisation.
  • Knowledge of database structures, such as relational and dimensional modelling and design.
  • Designing and developing streaming services.
  • Designing and developing APIs.
  • Team Leadership.
