Our summer program provides interns with the opportunity to work alongside multiple investment professionals across sectors, gaining direct exposure to the role of a discretionary investment analyst. You'll learn firsthand what it's like to work in a dynamic environment driven by the market, including:

  • Researching broader market factors and themes, as well as diving deeper into verticals within tech, healthcare, consumer, energy, and industrials.
  • Leveraging alternative datasets to perform various types of diligence on both private and public companies.
  • Developing your technical acumen and communication skills.
  • Facilitating relationships with the street and building partnerships with banks across the sell-side.
  • Researching and supporting strategies within the firm's current trading framework.
  • Collaborating with other groups across the firm.
  • Attending sessions with senior leaders discussing their expertise and career paths.
  • Consideration for full-time employment upon graduation.

A Day in the Life of a Fundamental Researcher

As a fundamental researcher, you'll work on a myriad of tasks from multi-week, in-depth projects to daily ad-hoc requests from the analysts. Your primary focus throughout the day will be on evaluating and meeting with companies through various methods, including sell-side interaction/data analysis, facilitating existing strategies, and supporting quantitative teams through rigorous fundamental diligence.

Requirements for the Position

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience researching and analyzing companies' fundamental business drivers – ideally through prior internship experience or in a related position. Modeling skills are preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate a passion for both investing and industry trends in the public markets.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to quickly synthesize thoughts and organize information.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, alongside a willingness to take initiative.
  • An openness to tackle any project or task that's required.
  • An investing background and grasp of financial markets, and valuation/accounting principles – includes degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or related subjects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues across multiple teams and regions.
  • Fluency in English is required.

The minimum base salary for this role is $60,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates' compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
