Job Title: Principal Countermeasure Development Engineer

Join MASS Consultants, a global technology company, as a Principal Countermeasure Development Engineer and contribute to the development of advanced countermeasure systems for highly secure organizations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead our Countermeasure Development team, providing technical advice and support to customers on countermeasure development, engineering support, and delivery. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of physics/mathematical principles, experience with electro-optics, infra-red, or radio frequency sensors and systems, and technical leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers in developing models, designing and adding new features to countermeasure software, solving customer challenges, and requirements.
  • Oversee technical work for all team members and line manage senior engineers.
  • Contribute to the development of our in-house CounterWorX tool, modelling physical interactions and phenomena across dynamic simulations.
  • Work closely with our software development team and assurance process to ensure releasable software products meet customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of physics/mathematical principles at degree level.
  • Experience with electro-optics, infra-red, or radio frequency sensors and systems in a defence setting.
  • Technical leadership skills and experience in line management.
  • Experience across the engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, test, integration, and deployment.
  • Ability to write detailed analysis and reports on countermeasure performance.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience programming in MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
  • Knowledge of cutting-edge technologies and their application within the EW domain.
  • Ability to create technical roadmaps for in-house software products.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a UK National, eligible to work in the UK, and eligible to obtain and maintain a UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.
