Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety laws, legislation, and procedures. Collaborate with authorities to stop production lines and processes if safety concerns arise. Support adverse weather site management to guarantee the safety of all staff. Training will be provided in specialized areas such as confined spaces.
  • Plant Equipment: Optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime to meet production plans and increase reliability. This includes conducting preventative, reactive, and planned maintenance schedules, contributing to daily plant start-ups, and participating in continuous improvement projects. Ensure maintenance stock items are readily available, monitor stock levels, and manage orders.
  • Projects: Support and contribute to continuous improvement projects and capital investment projects.
  • Site Security: Responsible for locking and unlocking the site during weekends, shutdowns, and out-of-hours working.
  • Contractors: Collaborate with services contractors and specialists contractors, and support the MRO team with planning and coordinating contractors.
  • Engineering Processes: Ensure accurate input of information to the CMMS system. Create and review SOIs and risk assessments. Maintain the Engineering OEM information/manuals library. Maintain good housekeeping.
  • Communication: Provide clear and concise shift updates to the Engineering Shift Team Leader and participate in relevant communication or support meetings. Contribute/supply information to the Engineering Shift Team Leader to produce work planners, monthly reports, and shutdown plans. Communicate updates to various staff across the site when applicable.

Requirements:

  • Time-served (apprenticeship) mechanical biased maintenance engineer.
  • Practical experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working within a process-oriented environment.
  • Fault finding and root cause analysis experience.
  • A proactive approach and mindset to contribute within a continuous improvement culture.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with all colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to work flexibly from time to time, as required to suit the business needs.
  • Experience of using IT packages such as Microsoft and CMMS.
