Job Role
We're seeking a highly skilled Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our team. This dynamic role will be responsible for the strategic development of our SEND policy and provision, ensuring that our pupils with SEN and looked-after pupils receive the support they need to thrive.
Main Responsibilities
- Work with the Headteacher and therapy team to develop and lead the SEND policy and provision
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues and liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective support for pupils with SEN
- Advise on the graduated approach to providing SEN support and differentiated teaching methods
- Ensure statutory compliance for working with Looked After Children (LAC) and lead the Safeguarding team
- Liaise with parents and carers about pupil needs and provision
- Coordinate specific provision for pupils with EHC plans and review and evaluate the breadth and impact of SEND support
- Be a point of contact for external agencies and work with them to ensure appropriate provision
- Liaise with potential next providers of education to ensure smooth transitions
Person Specification
We're looking for an experienced SENCO and DSL with a strong track record of developing and implementing effective SEND policies and provision. You'll be a skilled communicator and team player with a passion for promoting the welfare and safeguarding of vulnerable pupils and young people.
