Computational Biology Leader for Global Drug Discovery

We are seeking a skilled Computational Biology Leader to join our global team at Vertex. This role will be based out of our Oxford, UK research site and will play a key part in advancing the development of transformative therapies for people with serious and life-threatening diseases.

About the Role

As a Computational Biology Lead, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and execute genomic studies that drive our drug discovery programs. You will work on advanced computational analyses of large-scale sequencing data, distil complex results into actionable insights, and partner with global teams to develop best practices for key genomic analyses.

You will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across multiple disease areas, leveraging your expertise in computational biology to advance our understanding of human disease.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify key project questions or challenges that can be answered using genomics, sequencing, or bioinformatics contributions
  • Partner with global Computational Genomics leads to prioritize needs and maximize impact across the portfolio
  • Serve as accountable lead for executing prioritized computational genomic activities in the Oxford research site
  • Perform advanced computational analyses of large-scale sequencing data and other biological data
  • Distil complex analyses and scientific results into key take-home messages and recommendations for next steps
Requirements
  • Relevant education in computational biology, bioinformatics, human genetics, genomics, systems biology, bioengineering, or a related field
  • A proven track record in analysis, visualization, and interpretation of large-scale human genetic data
  • Demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams to design and implement experiments and execute computational analysis
  • Expertise in applying computational methods and bioinformatics tools to large-scale data
What We Offer

As a member of our team, you will receive a competitive salary, estimated to be around £80,000 - £110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
