Job Title: Principal Engineer - Safety Expert

Location: Flexible working arrangements available across various locations, including Frimley, Filton, Broadoak, Brough, Manchester, Weymouth, and Barrow-In-Furness.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - Safety Expert to lead the development of functional Safety Cases for our submarine systems. As a key member of our Product Safety team, you will be responsible for managing the production of Safety Cases to a defined schedule, reporting to a Safety Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team in developing functional Safety Cases
  • Manage the production of Safety Cases to a defined schedule
  • Undertake complex safety analysis using techniques such as Fault Tree analysis and Event Tree Analysis
  • Produce written function safety justifications
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including System Engineers and Human Factors Subject Matter Experts

Requirements:

Essential:

STEM Degree or relevant experience in:

  • Leading a small team
  • Delivering functional Safety Cases
  • Complex safety analysis and justification

Desirable:

  • Previous submarine experience
  • Particularly Vehicle Control
  • Complex Control Systems

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Product Safety team, working on complex submarine systems. You will develop an understanding of how submarine systems work and interact, ensuring that the system of system interactions considers Product Safety appropriately.
