About the Role

Gallagher is seeking a highly skilled Charity Risk Manager to join our Charity & Healthcare Division based in Birmingham. This role focuses on underwriting and new business, utilizing sound judgment, industry knowledge, and internal guidance to handle and respond to new business enquiries. The successful candidate will provide a solid contribution to the team and work collaboratively with Lead Underwriters to ensure the Corporate and Mid Market sub teams deliver their financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Lead Underwriters to ensure the Corporate and Mid Market sub teams deliver their financial targets
  • Take personal ownership of and be responsible for ensuring own new business, cross sell, and organic growth targets are met contributing to the Corporate / Mid Market's sub team's financial results
  • Prepare and submit well-thought-out referrals on risks that fall outside own authority to either Lead Underwriter, Charity Underwriting Renewals Manager, Charity Underwriter Director, and/or the Insurers providing capacity to the Charity Underwriting Division as appropriate

About You
We are looking for a motivated and driven individual who possesses excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively. A high level of empathy and engagement to gain trust is essential. Additionally, you should have a strong analytical mindset and be able to work well under pressure with strong time management skills and the ability to hit deadlines.

Technical Knowledge:
This role requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Commercial Combined business experience, principally Property and Casualty, is also required, along with an understanding of underwriting principles and rating methods. Knowledge of how underwriting tools are used to inform decision-making processes is necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this role is approximately £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience. On top of a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits, including a minimum of 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays, and the option to 'buy' extra days. A defined contribution pension scheme, life insurance, income protection, and health cash plan or private medical insurance are also provided.
