Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Tekla Design Trainee to join our team at WGM Engineering Ltd. As a key member of our Technical Department, you will play a vital role in creating 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures.

  1. Collaborate closely with our experienced team to develop and maintain accurate 3D models of steel structures.
  2. Produce high-quality fabrication drawings and material lists to support our workshop operations.
  3. Conduct site surveys with our Site Surveyor and communicate effectively with our Projects team to ensure seamless project execution.
  4. Prepare and submit detailed written reports summarizing site survey findings.
  5. Demonstrate a solid understanding of technical standards and current British Standards in your daily work.
  6. Attend regular meetings and action instructions as required.
  7. Communicate effectively with our workshop and site installation teams regarding drawings and specifications.
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvements and work closely with our teams to implement changes.
  9. Update the fabrication tracker and schedule on TEKLA/CAD activities in a timely manner.
  10. Work collaboratively with our production team to ensure project deadlines are met and potential delays are addressed promptly.
  11. Provide support to the team on complex or high-criticality tasks that require specialized engineering knowledge or skills.
  12. Maintain a safe working environment and lead by example in behavioural safety practices.
  13. Ensure all HSEQ training requirements are met and up-to-date.
  14. Contribute to the development of our WGM ONE TEAM approach to collaboration and teamwork.

    To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of 1 year's experience with CAD software. A relevant HND or honours degree in technical engineering, along with 3D CAD/Modelling skills, is highly desirable. Familiarity with fabrication processes and quality aspects is also essential.
