We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team at Barnardo's. As a key member of our Youth Engagement and Wellbeing Service (YEWS), you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional wellbeing needs of young people aged 16-25 years who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

About the Role

As a Youth Wellbeing Practitioner, you will work closely with young people to identify their strengths and develop bespoke action plans to help them achieve their goals. You will deliver person-centred support, increasing self-esteem and confidence, which develops into improving employability skills and community engagement. Your role will include the delivery of 1:1 and group work programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver person-centred support to young people aged 16-25 years, focusing on building strong working relationships and identifying their strengths.
  • Develop and deliver 1:1 and group work programmes to support young people's emotional wellbeing and employability skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure the service is delivered within the requirements of the commissioning contract.
  • Provide support to young people with mental health issues, using a holistic approach to recognise the importance of overall wellbeing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local agencies and services to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting young people.
Requirements
  • Professional qualification in a core youth work/health or social profession.
  • Experience supporting young people aged 16+.
  • Knowledge and experience of issues affecting young people who are not in education, training, or employment.
  • Understanding and experience of supporting young people with mental health issues.
  • Experience developing and delivering 1:1 and group work programmes.
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience working cooperatively with a range of agencies.
  • Experience using computer systems for recording, monitoring, and evaluating data.
