About the RoleThis is a dynamic and challenging role that requires a strong clinical background in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. You will be responsible for contributing to the weekly running of the Frailty Assessment Unit and exploring new ways of working at the hospital-community interface.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the General Unselected Medical Take, weekend Frailty and Gerontology support, and out-of-hours Gerontology telephone on-call rota
- Support outpatient activity through targeted follow-up and contribute to admission avoidance rapid access HOT clinics provided by the department's Consultant Connect service
- Play a significant role in service redesign and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to teaching, training of junior staff, departmental efficiency, and research

Requirements- Wide experience in all aspects of General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, culminating in award of Certificate of Completion of Training by GMC, or award of Certificate of Eligibility for Specialty Registration (CESR) by GMC
- Experience in day-to-day organisation of General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine services in a busy Teaching Hospital
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills
- Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit
- Must have undertaken and completed audit projects
- Experience of clinical research
- Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation
- Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff
- Flexible, able to cover colleagues' absence
- Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine
