Job Title: Learning Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant to work in our North West Community Campus Cluster. The successful candidate will support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with additional support needs in Learning Centres or mainstream classes
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils as needed
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of learning materials
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • SCQF Level 4 (e.g. Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent qualification
  • Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of working with children and/or young people
  • Experience of working with children/young people with additional support needs (advantageous)

Working Arrangements:

This is a fixed-term position until August. The post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for the post.

Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children:

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicant Requirements:

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
