Support Specialist for Vulnerable Children

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to support the education of children with complex Autism and learning disabilities as a Teaching Assistant.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Teachers and therapists to provide emotional and mental health support, helping pupils reach their academic milestones while increasing their interpersonal and life skills.

We are looking for a graduate who is passionate about supporting vulnerable children and has experience working with individuals with Special Needs. The school employs a therapeutic approach, which means the children engage in various activities outside of traditional lessons.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Providing emotional and mental health support to all students
  2. Helping pupils reach their academic milestones while also increasing their interpersonal and life skills
  3. Managing challenging behaviour and developing positive behaviour strategies
  4. Improving communication through speech and language support, visual aids, and Makaton
  5. Collaborating with Teachers, Support Staff, and multi-therapy teams

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for any Psychology or Criminology Graduate to gain invaluable experience working with special needs, neurodiversity, and mental health difficulties.
