About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Pertemps. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe and compliant road maintenance activities across the Highland area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team to ensure effective communication and coordination of health and safety initiatives.
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statement Development: Assist area teams in developing and maintaining Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all roads maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Toolbox Talks, using the latest technology and software.
  • Health and Safety Induction and Training: Develop and deliver a comprehensive Health and Safety Induction program for Roads Operatives, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely.
  • Toolbox Talks and Training: Coordinate and deliver regular Toolbox Talks, ensuring attendance is recorded and that all operatives are aware of the latest health and safety procedures and protocols.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Construction Industry Experience: Proven experience working in a construction environment, with a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using technical and statistical information, with the ability to analyze and interpret data to inform health and safety decisions.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances, and to identify and implement effective solutions to health and safety challenges.
