Babcock is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Engineering Project Manager to lead a team of Delivery Co-ordinators in delivering Fleet Engineering maintenance and repair projects across nuclear powered vessels. This role will cover various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Combat Systems, Fabrication and Welding.

As a Fleet Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing and directing a team of 50 - 75 employees, including engineering line leaders, engineering specialists and Industrial workers to achieve their part of the project and maintain operational performance within the required constraints of safety, quality, schedule and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective management of engineering output to ensure the technical solutions in line with the agreed technical scope.
  • Ensure the highest standards of health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across Engineering and other functional areas cooperate with the required standards outset by the business.
  • Promote effective cooperation across Engineering and other functional teams. Work closely with the wider Fleet Engineering department and the Babcock Fleet Programmes management function to develop and manage demand profiles for internal resources and external subcontractors, to satisfy project requirements and effectively manage any change.
  • Cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships across key interfaces, internal and external to the business, through the deployment of effective communication and management.

This position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in the management of multi-disciplined engineering teams on large scale, complex projects within a high regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of safety management within a high risk, complex environment; ensuring their own and their team's compliance with company and customer procedures/policies, as well as any applicable statutory industry standards to maintain the highest standard of safety and quality in output.
  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring with the ability to influence key stakeholders to ensure a positive safety culture and best practices.
  • Ability to identify and assess complex engineering work packages; effectively planning, preparing, and delivering in line with the requirements of agreed KPIs.

Qualifications:

  • HNC in a relative engineering discipline.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
