Vehicle Maintenance Specialist

South Central Ambulance Service NHS is seeking a skilled Fleet Engineer to maintain and repair ambulances and other vehicles to the highest standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum vehicle availability and performing a vital role in supporting the ambulance service.
The Fleet Engineer will work in a dynamic environment, maintaining and repairing a diverse range of vehicles and equipment, including specialist vehicles and ancillary equipment. The role requires strong organizational and methodical skills, as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
The ideal candidate will have relevant workshop experience, a City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft studies qualification, and a full driving license. The salary for this position is circa £37,755 per annum, with opportunities for overtime and a generous holiday entitlement.

Main Duties of the Job- Carry out maintenance and repairs of ambulances and other vehicles, as specified by SCAS Ltd to the standards required by SCAS.
- Attend the scenes of breakdowns for repairs, ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
- Prepare new vehicles for service and prepare old vehicles for disposal.
- Maintain the upkeep of records relating to the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Have due regard to the health and safety of yourself and others, reporting any hazards or accidents immediately.
- Be aware of and follow security procedures.
- Attend training courses relating to the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Make decisions on vehicle repairs, in the absence of the Fleet Supervisor.
- Participate in Duty Mechanic standby rota system.
- Fully participate in all income generation, work relevant to the Fleet maintenance operation.
