Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Volunteer Organiser to join the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust team.

This role will play an important part in supporting volunteers and ensuring the smooth running of the Northumbria Volunteer Cafe at North Tyneside hospital.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To promote the image of the NVS service and provide a high-quality, client-focused volunteer service for patients, staff, and visitors trust-wide.
  • To organise volunteer rotas and supervise volunteers on a daily basis.
  • To maintain a high standard of service, ensure quality of food and beverages, maintain high standards of hygiene, and adhere to all Trust Policies.
  • To check and account for all cash daily and oversee the replenishing and maintenance of automatic coffee machines.
  • To have sound knowledge of stock control procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • To supervise shop volunteers under the guidance of the Volunteer Officer onsite.
  • To assist the Volunteer Officer with any training arrangements.
  • To prepare, check, and authorise invoices for payment by the finance department weekly.
  • To carry out stock takes and manage stock ordering and stock levels.
  • To be responsible for all food deliveries and checking temperatures of appliances.
  • To be responsible for maximising income generation and minimising expenditure and losses.
  • To manage large deliveries of supplies, including sorting and carrying boxes of produce to the shops and arranging storage in the stock cupboard.
  • To deal with problems identified by the Volunteers as soon as possible and refer potential grievances to the Volunteer OSM.
  • To communicate any changes to the Volunteers Trust Wide.
  • To deal with any customer complaints efficiently and effectively and deal/refer to Volunteer OSM.

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • To have knowledge of business practices and stock control.
  • To have knowledge of the voluntary sector and a commitment to volunteers.
  • To have a good working knowledge of IT/computer systems to input and extract data.

Qualifications

Essential

  • To have NVQ Level 3 or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or skills.
