About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fluid Dynamics and Controls Software Engineer to join our team at Morson Talent. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing the functional design of the Active Vehicle Control System (AVCS) for the Dreadnought submarine programme.

The successful candidate will have experience in designing control systems using Simulink and integrating them into the wider system. Additionally, they will have strong knowledge of software/system engineering lifecycle and ability to apply good systems engineering practices.

In this role, you will collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to achieve common objectives. You will be responsible for producing control model concepts, then detailed design models and test harnesses, documenting the design, maintaining consistent communication across the AVC 'One Team' construct, developing and harmonising processes in line with Maritime and Air Sector policies, and capturing Learning From Experience (LFE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Simulink models for control systems and integrate them into the wider system

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of software/system engineering lifecycle
  • Proven ability to design control systems using Simulink
  • Competence in Mathworks tools
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Actuation, Control or Fluid Systems Engineering

What We Offer:

  • Estimated salary: £45-£50 per hour (£60,000-£70,000 per annum)
  • 12 month duration
  • 4 days per week onsite at Warton, Lancashire (or Bristol, Prestwick or Brough)
  • Opportunity to work on a critical project for the UK MOD

This role shall operate inside IR35.
