About the Role:
The successful candidate will be working as part of the Internal Flow and Hazards team at BAE Systems, supporting various submarine programs. The primary focus will be on undertaking technical work on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. This includes pre-processing, applying and developing CFD models, solving analysis, post processing, and authoring technical reports and presentations.
The role also involves providing technical support during team meetings, project management, business development, technically reviewing work, capability development, and involvement in CFD toolset research and development activities.

Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, or equivalent experience
- Experience working in highly regulated/high hazard industries
- Proficient in using at least one CFD software package, such as Ansys Fluent or StarCCM+
Desirable Skills:
- Awareness of safety case development
- Experience with OpenFOAM or FDS
- Chartered Engineer status or ability to achieve
- Programming skills in high-level languages, e.g., VBA
- Experience with Ansys Fluent UDFs and/or Java for Siemens Star CCM+

Team Overview:
The Internal Flow and Hazards team supports a wide range of customers across multiple submarine programs, including site and facilities. The team is responsible for creating CFD models that analyze consequences, including fire, steam release, water-based fire suppression systems, thermal analysis, flammable and toxic gas dispersion.
