About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and committed English and Performing Arts Teacher to join our team at Smart Teachers. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD, and associated complex needs.

As an English and Performing Arts Teacher, you will be teaching across Key Stages in a SEN Secondary setting, working with class sizes of between 5-10 young people. You will spend the majority of your time teaching English, with a smaller amount of time teaching Performing Arts (Music, Drama, and Art).

The school is a purpose-built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders. The spacious and modern building has been specifically designed to accommodate up to 70 young people with autistic spectrum disorders. The classrooms are set up for specialist subjects including information technology, art, food technology, science, and music, together with exclusive sensory and therapy rooms/suites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out professional duties as covered by the latest School Teachers Pay and Conditions document.
  • To teach a class of pupils and ensure planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • To maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • To promote the school's mission statement, developing potential, touching hearts, and engaging minds.
