About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Assistant Psychologist to join our team in the Newham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. The successful candidate will work closely with our clinical team to provide semi-structured support sessions and facilitate education and support groups for carers of service users.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide semi-structured support sessions to service users under the supervision of a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist.
  • Help facilitate education and support groups for carers of NEIS service users.
  • Support the delivery of family interventions in psychosis, including attendance at regular clinical supervision and internal training sessions.
  • Oversee outcome measures pertaining to carer and family interventions.
Requirements
  • First degree in Psychology (Upper second class or higher), conferring graduate basis for registration as accredited by the BPS.
  • Experience working with client groups with complex mental health problems.
  • Able to use skills of empathy to engage with people reluctant to seek help from NHS services.
  • Awareness of the potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health.

The post holder will be required to identify the carers of NEIS clients, and to manage a database of this information. The post holder will carry out service audit, research, and evaluation in line with the service needs, often within the framework of Quality Improvement (QI). The post holder will be an active member of QI initiatives and will have opportunities to enhance skills in data processing, inputting, and analysis; The post holder will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel.
