Editor/Cutter Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Editor/Cutter to join our team at Park Village. As an Editor/Cutter, you will be responsible for editing and cutting video content for various projects, including commercials, documentaries, and marketing materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with directors, producers, and EPs to deliver high-quality work that meets client expectations.
  2. Offline and online editing of commercial projects, documentaries, showreels, and marketing content.
  3. Rushes footage management, storage, and server management.
  4. Edit selects, sound syncing, project setup, and build of initial timeline.
  5. Participate in the creative process and offer ideas and solutions.
  6. Support senior and freelance editors with technical requests and in-house processes.
  7. Backup, transcode, file, and manage rushes; accurately archive all projects and raw footage.
  8. Potential to act as DIT in studio or on set, and as editor on location shoots.
  9. Work with EPs to ensure effective operations of the post setup.
  10. Liaise with external technical support and post-production suppliers.
  11. Oversee output of freelance editors to assist in delivery.
  12. Archive delivered projects to Vimeo and server.
  13. Sourcing and research of archive and existing footage to implement into edits.
  14. Sourcing of music tracks from music libraries for edits.
  15. Edit and deliver creative showreels to promote PV and our directors.
  16. Upload WIP edits and file transfers for feedback and amends.
  17. Assist in-housekeeping and management of all footage and project files on Cloud/onsite Server.
  18. Media manage and conform for grade.
  19. Export for post facilities (OMFs, AIFs, DPX, TIFFs, Q'times, MP4, XMLs, EDLs).
  20. Technical maintenance of hard drives, hardware, software licenses, and updates.
  21. Work with Producers/directors to ensure post timelines stay on schedule.
  22. Liaise with studio team on upkeep of edit suite and ensuring all visiting Directors, Editors, and clients are looked after.
  23. Engage with the staff and culture of PV as a valued member of the team.
  24. Extensive Showreel of editing, including both creative offline and technical finishing.
  25. A solid understanding of end-to-end editing and post-production workflow.
  26. Excellent knowledge of Adobe post-production software and linear editing software (Premiere, FCP, AVID).
  27. Basic knowledge of design packages such as Illustrator and Photoshop.
  28. Basic knowledge of audio, VO recording, and sound design.
  29. Experience of a variety of post software such as DaVinci Resolve, REDcine,, Quicktime, etc.
  30. Good understanding of Codecs, compression, export, and delivery processes.
  31. Good understanding of offline/online workflows.
  32. Good understanding of online video platforms, file delivery, and upload/download processes.
  33. Experience with HD camera workflows – including ingest, transcode, and conform.
  34. Understanding of cloud/onsite servers and general media storage.
  35. Some experience delivering projects for online, film, and television.
  36. Good communication skills, to be comfortable liaising with editors, producers, and EPs.
  37. A confident self-starter, a proactive, systematic, and efficient team player.
  38. Attention to detail and organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize a challenging workload effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  39. Willingness to expand knowledge of editing software, hardware, post-production processes, and protocols.
  40. Experience in a similar role in a digital media/post-production environment.
