About the Position

This Medical Assistant I role in our Neurosurgery department at Brigham and Women's Hospital provides critical support to healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support healthcare providers by preparing patients for examinations, obtaining medical information, and recording patient data.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient care and communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, processing paperwork, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols to provide effective support to healthcare teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the continuous enhancement of patient care and services.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates with a High School Diploma or Equivalent, basic life support certification preferred, and direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year. They should have comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols, as well as proficiency in electronic health records systems and medical office software.
