About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Biomedical Scientist to lead our Biomedical Science Department as a Laboratory Management Specialist at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Biomedical Scientists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and maintaining regulatory compliance. The role involves strategic planning, staff management, and education/training responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead laboratory teams to ensure high quality routine and specialized services
- Develop and implement strategic plans for departmental growth and development
- Co-ordinate and facilitate Health and Safety in accordance with regulatory bodies and Trust requirements
- Investigate complaints and implement actions/learning from staff or service users
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification
- MSc, FIBMS, or equivalent experience
- Registration with HCPC
- Management qualification
Benefits:
This role offers a competitive salary of £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including contributory pension scheme and professional registration fees.

Location:
The role is based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with regular travel to other sites within the Trust.
