Senior Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. As a key member of our investment operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of our pension fund's investment operations and accounting arrangements.
Reporting to the Head of Investments, you will manage these arrangements, working closely with the Investment Assistant and Investment Clerk, and collaborating with a small team of investment professionals. Your expertise in financial and investment accounting matters will support senior management in providing information and advice to the Pensions Committee and the Pension Board.
You will be the lead for liaising with investment fund managers, including Border to Coast, and will be responsible for delivering the programme of work. This will involve ensuring the integrity of the pension fund's financial arrangements, including supporting the development of investment-related governance arrangements.
As a confident leader and people manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the correct controls are in place for pension fund activities. This will involve working closely with Border to Coast on investment accounting and with the Fund's actuary on the triennial valuation.
You will be the Council's technical expert on many pension fund matters, and strong relationships are key to success in this role. You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of projects, as well as tackling hands-on operations.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have an extensive post-CCAB qualification experience and be at home in a complex organisation. You will ideally have knowledge of pension funds, investments, or treasury management.
