Optical Assistant

The Dispensing Assistant will work as part of a friendly team in a practice to deliver first-class services, demonstrating excellent understanding of customer needs and a motivation to achieve sales.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting in Dispensing: Provide general advice and guidance to customers.
- Implementing Minor Repairs: Repair frames as needed.
- Carrying Out Tests: Conduct OCT, retinal photography, tonometry, and visual field tests to support eye examinations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and report to the Practice Manager as required.
- Maximising Sales: Achieve specified margins and targets while minimising costs.
- Customer Needs: Ascertain the wants and needs of each customer.
- Merchandise Selection: Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on customer needs and wants.
- Product Information: Describe merchandise and explain its use, benefits, operation, and care to customers.
- Knowledge and Policies: Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, as well as policies regarding payment, exchanges, and security.
- Serving Customers: Serve customers, bag, and package purchases.
- Security and Prevention: Observe and identify security risks and theft, and take appropriate action.
- Excellent Customer Service: Ensure the practice provides excellent customer service at all times, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
- Enquiries and Appointments: Answer telephones, deal with enquiries, and manage appointments.
- Enquiries and Complaints: Manage enquiries, complaints, refunds, etc., as required.
- Implementing Policies: Implement the policies and procedures set out in the Employment Handbook.
- Positive Working Relationships: Contribute to positive working relationships within the team.
- Team Member Support: Be aware of the needs of team members and show them courtesy.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with others in the team.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members and management colleagues to meet business objectives.
- Improving Ways of Working: Put forward ideas and feedback during team meetings to improve ways of working.
- Maintaining a Safe Working Environment: Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Following Procedures: Follow the company's procedures as described in the Health & Safety Policy.
- Reporting Incidents: Report anything unsafe to the Operations Director, and report accidents, near misses, etc., in the accident book.
- Representing the Company: Represent the company at events, etc., as required.
- Additional Tasks: Undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably requested.
