Optical Assistant

The successful candidate will work as part of a friendly team in a busy optical practice, providing excellent customer service and support in the delivery of first-class services.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting in Dispensing: Offer customers general advice and guidance on optical products and services.
- Implementing Minor Repairs: Carry out minor repairs to frames and other optical products.
- Carrying Out OCT and Visual Field Tests: Conduct OCT, retinal photography, tonometry, and visual field tests supplementary to an eye examination.
- Keeping Records and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and report to the Practice Manager as required.
- Maximising Sales: Maximise sales while minimising costs to ensure the achievement of specified margins and targets.
- Understanding Customer Needs: Ascertain the wants and needs of each customer and provide recommendations accordingly.
- Describing Merchandise: Describe optical products and explain their use, benefits, operation, and care to customers.
- Maintaining Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with current sales and promotions, as well as policies regarding payment, exchanges, and security.
- Serving Customers: Serve customers, bag and package purchases, and ensure a positive customer experience.
- Observing Security Risks: Identify and prevent security risks and theft, and report any incidents to the Practice Manager.
- Providing Excellent Customer Service: Ensure that the practice provides excellent customer service at all times, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
- Managing Enquiries and Complaints: Manage enquiries, complaints, refunds, and other customer-related issues as required.
- Implementing Policies and Procedures: Implement the policies and procedures set out in the Employment Handbook.
- Contributing to Positive Working Relationships: Contribute to positive working relationships within the team and with management colleagues.
- Communicating Effectively: Communicate effectively with others in the team and with customers.
- Working Collaboratively: Work collaboratively with team members and management colleagues to meet the objectives of the business.
- Maintaining a Safe Working Environment: Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Following Health and Safety Procedures: Follow the company's procedures as described in the Health and Safety Policy.
- Reporting Incidents: Report any accidents, near misses, or other incidents to the Operations Director and record them in the accident book.
