Youth Programmes Coordinator

Job Summary:

This role will work as part of the YMCA Andover team, planning and delivering a weekly youth group in conjunction with the Community Lead Practitioner. This youth club is for young people ages 10–14 year olds.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging, high-quality youth programmes that cater to the needs of young people.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to aid in the delivery of the programme and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Collect and analyze attendance and monitoring data, including regular informal and quarterly formal feedback sessions with young people.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the programme, attracting new young people through marketing and liaison with schools and local groups.
  • Work in a trauma-informed way when young people's behavior is challenging and provide referrals to other services as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all activities and develop procedures to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the group.

Requirements:

  • Experience in leading and inspiring a team.
  • Experience of working with young people and delivering youth programmes.
  • Experience in evaluating youth programmes and understanding the factors contributing to a successful intervention.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing young people within their community.
  • Understanding of risk assessment principles.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Understanding of equality and diversity.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding best practices.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
