Job Summary

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic Urology team consisting of 8 consultants, 5 middle grades, and a team of specialist nurses and junior doctors. The role will involve supporting both inpatient and outpatient services, dividing time between the operating theatres, wards, day surgery unit, diagnostic centre, and clinics.

Main Duties of the Job

Individual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the Clinical Director to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All job plans are agreed in line with the Trust's Job Planning Principles.

Job plans will be reviewed at least annually, following an appraisal meeting. The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a doctor's typical working pattern, duties, and responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It will cover all aspects of a doctor's professional practice, including clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities and external commitments.

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Willingness to observe Trust policies and guidelines in all aspects of clinical practice
  • Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
  • Participation in annual appraisal and personal development plan review

Qualification and Experience

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC Good Medical Practice
  • Minimum 2 years' in a full-time or equivalent part-time experience in Urology
  • Able to perform flexible cystoscopy independently

Desirable

  • FRCS (Urol) or FEBU
  • Additional Urological certification Urodynamics
  • Experience of Urology at specialty doctor or registrar level
