About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and flexible individual to join our Patient Services Team in York as a Team Leader.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols.
  2. Maintain and monitor the Practice appointments system, identifying areas of concern when required.
  3. Oversee the processing of personal requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensure patients are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  4. Answer internal and external telephone calls when required.
  5. Oversee the processing and distribution of incoming (and outgoing) mail.
  6. Ensure messages and information is passed on appropriately and accurately.
  7. Assist with filing and retrieving paperwork when necessary.
  8. Manage the processing of repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines.
  9. Responsible for routine site maintenance and Health and Safety.
  10. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
  11. Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
  12. Ensure staff are following in house guidelines when dealing with samples.
  13. Proactively provide leadership and assistance to Practice and Trust staff as required.
  14. Oversee the ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies.
  15. Ensure staff are following appropriate guidelines when dealing with clinical waste.
  16. Ensure the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers are tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
  17. Maintain hygiene control measures.
  18. Manage and assist with front-desk administration and cash handling required for non-NHS work such as patients' private insurance and medical reports.
  19. Recognise and work within own competence and in accordance with your job description.
  20. Undertake additional tasks as required within your general role as Patient Service Team Leader.
