Senior Financial Manager

The post of Deputy Head of Finance is a pivotal role within Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the senior business unit teams by providing in-depth analytical support to the Head of Finance.
The successful candidate will represent the finance function at Management and Operational meetings, providing strategic financial and business planning advice aligned with Trust objectives.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in presenting complex financial information, making persuasive arguments for a course of action to senior managers, and ensuring that statutory, NHS, and other returns conform to national accounting standards.
The Deputy Head of Finance will be responsible for ensuring that finance systems and processes are appropriate and efficient to meet the business needs of the Trust, while also maintaining an understanding of changes in the NHS Financial Regime and developing implementation strategies.

- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, managing large volumes of data to create and develop models using advanced spreadsheet techniques.
- Understanding and application of budgeting and financial planning, costing and pricing, variance analysis and financial reporting, and the purpose of accounting accruals and provisions.
The ideal candidate will have advanced technical and personal skills, experience of staff performance management, and the ability to negotiate and influence to achieve efficient and effective performance.
They will also be able to plan and coordinate the work of their team and other departments, working on multiple projects simultaneously to meet agreed deadlines and targets.
