About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Barry-Wehmiller team as a Mechanical Equipment Assembler. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery is assembled to a high standard, within expected timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and analyze assembly drawings, bills of material, and specifications to plan machine build operations.
  • Fit and assemble components according to specifications, using correct tools and recognized engineering methods, while verifying conformance of parts.
  • Communicate any build and documentation issues to Operational Leadership and/or Engineering.
  • Mark all fasteners and sign worksheet to confirm torque and quality checks have been completed.
  • Support internal and customer pre-delivery inspections.
  • Debug assemblies and machines by identifying and correcting problems affecting proper operation.
  • Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading if required.
  • Ensure that time is booked to the relevant manufacturing order.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to apprentices and other members of the assembly team to increase their skills and knowledge base.
  • Identify process and product improvements and innovation opportunities using Lean tools.
  • Clean and organize all equipment and work areas, ensuring they are always free from hazards and customer-ready.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and BWIS company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safety glasses and shoes are always worn in the assembly areas, along with additional PPE when required.
  • Be available and have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends if or when required.

About You:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Equipment Assembler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine building and setup, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. A recognized engineering apprenticeship and qualifications in a mechanical engineering subject are also desirable.
