Principal General Counsel - Intellectual Property

Quantinuum is seeking a seasoned intellectual property attorney to lead our IP strategy and manage our patent portfolio. As Principal General Counsel - Intellectual Property, you will play a critical role in shaping our company's intellectual property direction and ensuring the protection of our innovative technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IP strategies to protect our patent portfolio and ensure freedom to operate.
  • Negotiate and draft IP-related agreements, including commercial contracts and licensing agreements.
  • Lead IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and perform IP risk assessments.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify key innovations and develop IP enforcement strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and competitor activity in the quantum sector.
Requirements:
  • JD degree and active membership in a state bar.
  • Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Minimum 8+ years of intellectual property legal experience.
  • U.S. person (defined as U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience with patents, trademarks, copyrights, and open-source software.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with excellent business judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Broad experience working with patent, IT, commercial, software, and technology licensing contracts.
