Our Team

The State and Local Sales and Use Tax team at RSM provides valuable advice to our clients on solving their most pressing sales tax issues. Our sales tax consultants work across various industries and tax jurisdictions to assist clients in identifying solutions and making informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent client sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies.
  • Drive growth and profitability of the State and Local tax practice by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross-selling, and new clients for the tax practice.
  • Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor, or coach to one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Integrate with clients, local and regional RSM SALT teams, the overall RSM tax team, and RSM audit and consulting colleagues.
  • Manage sales and use tax consulting projects, including technical research memoranda, nexus studies, exposure quantification, voluntary disclosures, and other sales tax mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements, focusing on high-value, quality tax advice and seeking to expand services to clients.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell various SALT services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • One of the following: CPA, CMI, JD, or LLM.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience providing sales and use tax consulting services in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
