About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Domestic Assistant to join our team at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our cleaning team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our clinical environment is clean, well-presented, and maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the environment is cleaned in line with national cleaning standards
  • Operate electrical machinery, including rotary machines and steam cleaners
  • Clean medical and hard equipment
  • Report maintenance issues to the Senior Housekeeper
  • Assist with the curtain change programme
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and work with the Senior Housekeeper to develop solutions

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good basic education, including the ability to read, write, and perform numerical skills
  • Experience of using electrical machinery

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Domestic Services or equivalent, with a willingness to undertake within 6 months of employment
  • Relevant experience of working within a healthcare setting

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Good knowledge of COSHH, Health & Safety in the workplace, and Safe Systems of Working

Desirable

  • Full understanding and knowledge of cleaning schedules and frequencies
