Job Summary

The Domestic Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the clinical environment is clean, well-presented, and maintained to the highest standards, enhancing the patient's experience and promoting a safe and comfortable environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the environment is cleaned in line with national cleaning standards and guidelines.
  • Operate electrical machinery, including rotary machines and steam cleaners, to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Clean and maintain medical and hard equipment to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Report any maintenance issues or concerns to the Senior Housekeeper.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and work with the Senior Housekeeper to develop and implement solutions.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good basic education and ability to read, write, and understand numerical skills.
  • Experience of using electrical machinery, including rotary machines and steam cleaners.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Domestic Services or equivalent, with a willingness to undertake within 6 months of employment.
  • Relevant experience of working within a healthcare setting.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Good knowledge of COSHH, Health & Safety in the workplace, and Safe Systems of Working.

Desirable

  • Full understanding and knowledge of cleaning schedules and frequencies.

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Good communication skills to engage with a variety of people.
  • Flexible in working practices and hours.
  • Ability to follow clear instructions and show empathy and understanding of patient's needs.
