Job Overview

ABM Facility Services UK is seeking a Cleaning Operative to join their team in Darlington. As a key member of the facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing a high level of janitorial and waste removal services to a high-profile client. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Carry out janitorial duties in a warehouse environment, ensuring a high level of cleanliness and efficiency.
  2. Provide waste removal services, handling waste generated on site via approved waste streams.
  3. Operate cleaning equipment, including walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers, ensuring they are kept clean, well-maintained, and in a safe working order.
  4. Respond to spillages and callouts from the client's on-site team.
  5. Communicate effectively with team members and line managers.
  6. Wear protective clothing (PPE) and comply with Health & Safety legislation and policies.

Person Specification

  • Satisfactory response from Disclosure Board at a basic level and knowledge of health and safety requirements or a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods or a willingness to learn.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a very busy operational environment.
  • Reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • This is an active role that requires you to be physically fit.

Essential

  • Willingness to participate in the company's screening process, including completing a basic DBS check and submitting to random drug and alcohol testing.
