Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at OCU Northavon Groundworks. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the quantity surveying team, ensuring all financial and contractual aspects of projects are controlled and managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the quantity surveying team to ensure effective cost management and contract administration.
  • Provide strategic guidance on cost management, procurement, and contract administration to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs for team members.
  • Prepare and oversee cost plans and estimates for projects.
  • Monitor project budgets and manage cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide accurate financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements during the procurement process.
  • Contract Administration:
    • Ensure timely and accurate assessment of interim payments and final accounts.
    • Resolve contractual disputes and claims efficiently.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor risk throughout the project and adjust strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures for cost and contract management.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in quantity surveying within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record in a senior quantity surveying role with management responsibilities.
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent financial and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in contract law and standard forms of contract used in the UK.
  • Proficient in relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Office, CostX, CATO).
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
