Job Description

To provide a comprehensive and high-quality service to rough sleepers in Lewisham, ensuring they receive the support and advice they need to secure permanent housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of rough sleepers and provide personalized support to help them achieve their housing goals.
  • Work closely with Housing Solution Officers to develop and implement Personal Housing Plans, ensuring each step towards permanent housing is completed.
  • Develop specialist knowledge and skills to deliver a flexible and responsive housing needs service, meeting changing demands and customer pressures.
  • Engage rough sleepers in services using an outreach approach, partnering with London Street Rescue, NSNO Hubs, and other funded and voluntary rough sleeping initiatives.
  • Provide confidential and impartial advice and information to identified rough sleepers, resolving their accommodation problems and reducing the need for temporary accommodation.
  • Advise customers on the Council's obligations under PtVI and PtVII of the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Act 2002, and the Localism Act 2011.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of homelessness and housing needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.
