Job Title: Mechanical Design and Projects Engineer

GR Associates, a specialist independent building services consultancy, is seeking a high-end intermediate/senior level building services design engineer to join their design team in Birmingham. Hybrid remote working is available.

About the Role

We work on a wide variety of project sectors, including general commercial, high-end residential, educational, health, and MOD. As a mechanical design engineer, you will be responsible for providing effective designs, conducting surveys, preparing feasibility reports, specifications, and site supervision. You should have a minimum of HND level and at least 2 years' UK building services design experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design calculations using industry-leading software.
  2. Assist in preparing reports such as feasibility studies, design reports, specifications, and contract administration.
  3. Attend site surveys and client meetings.
  4. Undertake detailed site surveys and design reviews.
  5. Understand engineering systems and report on both mechanical and electrical disciplines during meetings.
  6. Appreciate contract administration, project management, and site supervision/inspections, and assist with financial control of project(s) liaising with the Project Director.
Requirements
  1. Preferably have some Revit MEP experience.
  2. Some experience of IES modelling software would be advantageous (but not essential).
  3. Ideally some understanding of BIM Level 2 and BIM project deliverables structure. Training will be provided if required.
  4. Undertake mechanical designs from inception to completion, sometimes within tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  5. Full UK driving license.
