The Planning Policy Team Leader will play a key role in shaping the future of Southwark's planning and growth strategy. As a member of the Planning and Growth Division, you will be responsible for leading on areas of work and plans to progress policy and planning for the best outcomes for Southwark.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of planners and work with others to develop and implement planning policies and strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of the Local Plan and other planning documents.
  • Work with stakeholders, including consultants and community groups, to ensure that planning policies and strategies are effective and meet the needs of the community.
  • Provide training and support to increase skills and experience within the Planning and Growth Division.

About You

We are looking for a Planning Policy Team Leader who is enthusiastic and passionate about learning and contributing to the wide variety of work undertaken by the Planning and Growth Division. You will have a good understanding of planning within an urban context and an attitude where you put the customer first.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of planning policy and design considerations, particularly in an urban context.
  • Ability to interpret complex issues and translate them into development management policies.
  • Keen to suggest ideas for improvements and change.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
