Allocations Team Leader

A brilliant opportunity to support a vibrant community in delivering a comprehensive, customer-focused, and high-quality housing allocations service, liaising with other sections, departments, and agencies internally and externally in relation to housing needs issues on behalf of home seekers.

Your Role:

  1. Ensure a customer-focused housing allocations service, working with internal departments and external agencies to address housing needs.
  2. Provide leadership to the allocations team, including regular supervision, team meetings, and performance monitoring to maintain service standards.
  3. Manage staffing schedules, monitor performance, address HR issues, and support the team in handling escalated cases.
  4. Maintain accurate records of voids and lettings processes, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with council policies and regulations.
  5. Proactively apply knowledge and initiative to deliver sustainable housing solutions while efficiently using the council's financial and accommodation resources.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of current housing, immigration, and related legislation, case law, policies, and good practice, including relevant Housing and Homelessness Acts.
  2. Strong ability to understand and accurately apply complex housing legislation, ensuring fair assessments and lawful decisions.
  3. Experience working in high-pressure customer service environments, supporting vulnerable individuals with housing needs.
  4. Proven ability to manage staff, including handling performance issues, training, and mentoring staff to reach their full potential.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of delivering clear, concise, and empathetic responses to complex housing issues.
