Purchasing Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team at ASC Connections Ltd. As a key member of our purchasing function, you will be responsible for leading a team of Category Buyers and Senior Buyers to deliver a best-in-class purchasing function.

Your primary objective will be to ensure suppliers deliver high-quality parts and components on time, in full, to enable production targets to be met. You will work closely with our production team to identify and mitigate any supply chain risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of Category Buyers and Senior Buyers to deliver a best-in-class purchasing function.
  2. Develop and implement a strategy for sourcing new suppliers and managing existing relationships.
  3. Collaborate with the production team to identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
  4. Ensure suppliers deliver high-quality parts and components on time, in full.
  5. Identify cost-saving opportunities within your specific category.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Purchasing Manager, leading a team of Category Buyers, Senior Buyers, or Project Buyers within a manufacturing business.
  2. Experience in New Product Introduction.
  3. Proven negotiation skills and an in-depth understanding of commercial terms.
  4. Far East sourcing experience.
  5. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  6. Ability to work under pressure.
  7. Experience purchasing a range of materials, components, and parts.
  8. Experience working with a range of MER/ERP systems.
